Modern
wedding etiquette is more liberated and
relaxed than ever. You should feel free
to interpret .........
Greeting guests
The traditional greeting line up
is composed as follows and takes place before commencing
the Wedding Breakfast. Brides Mother, Grooms
Father, Grooms Mother, Brides Father, The
Bride, The Groom, Chief Bridesmaid, Best Man. It is
the ideal way to greet your guests, adding a touch
of friendly formality and sense of occasion.
At a less formal reception the guests may be greeted
by just the Bride and Groom.
Toasts and speeches
The Brides Father (or a family friend) proposes
a toast to the Bride and Groom.
The Groom, who thanks the Brides Parents and
Guests, replies. He also toasts the Bridesmaids, on
behalf of himself and his new wife.
The Best Man replies on behalf of the Bridesmaids,
reads the telegrams, and makes the traditional keynote
speech, and closes with a toast to the future happiness
of the
Bride and Groom.
You can round off the speeches with a few words from
the Bride - the choice is yours.
Cutting the cake
The cake is usually cut by the Bride and Groom after
the coffee has been served, but before the speeches
and toasts. The Bride and Groom together make the first
cut into the bot-tom tier, using our ceremonial sword.
This makes a great photo opportunity. The cake can
then be served immediately, or saved until the evening
- the choice is yours. |
